But Aung San Suu Kyi was candid in her assessment of India's role. She said India needs to do more as the largest democracy in the world. And that really has been at the heart of a debate on India's foreign policy, from Burma to Tibet, India has often been ciriticised for compromising its principles. News Link: www.ndtv.com

Air Force Day in India!
Air Force Day in India!
The Indian Air Force is the air arm of the Indian armed forces. Its primary responsibility is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during a conflict. It was officially established on 8 October 1932 as an auxiliary air force of the Indian Empire and the prefix Royal was added in 1945 in recognition of its services during World War II. After India achieved independence from the United Kingdom in 1947, the Royal Indian Air Force served the Dominion of India, with the prefix being dropped when India became a republic in 1950. Other major operations undertaken by the IAF include Operation Vijay - the invasion of Goa, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Cactus and Operation Poomalai. Apart from conflicts, the IAF has been an active participant in United Nations peacekeeping missions. The President of India serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the IAF. Indian Railways
Train passing by camera. A passenger train passes by, with commuters hanging out of the doors, while a goods train stands next door. An oil tanker train also passes by, carrying liquid oil on board. Right at the end, a flat bed train that can carry vehicles on board passes by! Indian train in all its (crowded!) glory!
Now all you western viewers, please don't go and labour under the misconception that this is how your average Indian commutes to work! This is an aberration, although a not unusual one... These labourers are coming in to New Delhi from neighbouring states, to work for the week and then return home over the weekend... They are mostly travelling ticketless, and the Indian railways are forced to allow this to happen, or the entire railway system will go under.
